Bushido Jiu-Jitsu Academy attending Camp Vertex was nothing short of transformative for our academy.
Located at state-of-the-art Skyfall Reserve in Trinidad, Texas, this immersive camp combined world-class Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instruction with elite firearms training, creating an experience that challenged us both physically and mentally.
Unmatched Training with Legends
We had the opportunity to learn and train gi and no gi from Travis Stevens. Rarely do you get Olympic caliber instruction but at Camp Vertex, Bushido had the opportunity for multiple days tremendous exposure to the top of the food chain instruction. The sessions-both Gi and NoGi-were technical, tactical, and most important, useful. Our team is implementing the stuff Travis showed immediately!
Elite Firearms Instruction
The firearms component was led by combat-seasoned Navy SEAL operators Terry Houin and Brandon Tucker. From pistol to carbine to long-range rifle, every drill was hands-on, safe, and expertly guided. The tactical ranges with the carbine and long range rifle portions were the resounding highlights that were the favorite portion of our training.
Luxury Meets Challenge
Camp Vertex isn’t just about hard training. The amenities were top-notch: outstanding meals, incredible lodging, and a world-class facility known as “The Forge” built in partnership with FUJI Mats. Every detail-from recovery sessions to downtime at the lodge-made us feel valued and recharged. It was always great coming back to the lodge to the smell of homemade of BBQ or cookies after training all day. Flossy the black lab was ready to great everyone when we returned.
Team Camaraderie and Growth
What truly set this camp apart was the camaraderie for our academy. Whether on the mat, at the range, or sharing meals, the bonds we formed were genuine and lasting. The shared challenges were fun and fostered trust, support, and a sense of unity that we will carry back to our academy and beyond.
